Description :
Antique Jules Richard Handheld French Anemometer This device is an anemometer, specifically a type known as a mechanical or windmill anemometer. These instruments are used to measure wind speed (in metres). The rotating vanes or cups catch the wind, and the speed of rotation is proportional to the wind speed. The device has a nickel-plated brass body and an aluminum windmill (the rotating part with vanes). This windmill is connected to a speedometer with a silvered dial Jules Richard was a well-known French instrument maker in the late 1800s and early 1900s, based in Paris. His company produced a variety of scientific and meteorological instruments, known for their quality and precision. Anemometers like this were used in meteorology, aviation, and other fields where wind speed measurement was important. The rotating vanes spin, however the gauge doesn't register wind speed. The gauge/dial appears to need cleaning or maintenance. Tested - Partially Works 9"T x 3.75"W x 2.25"D
