Description :
Framed Print Of USS Decatur During The Battle Of Seattle by Mark Myers (1987) The "Battle of Seattle" refers to a significant historical event that occurred on January 26, 1856, during the Puget Sound War. This conflict involved the Native American tribes of the region and the early American settlers in the nascent settlement of Seattle. The USS Decatur, a U.S. Navy sloop-of-war, played a crucial role in defending the settlement by providing naval bombardment and protection to the inhabitants. The event led to the eventual displacement and further subjugation of the local indigenous populations. Mark Myers is a contemporary artist known for his historical maritime paintings and prints, often depicting scenes from American naval history. His work frequently captures the grandeur and drama of sailing ships and significant historical naval engagements. The print "Battle of Seattle" specifically commemorates the role of the USS Decatur in defending the settlement, placing it within the broader narrative of Pacific Northwest history and American expansion. Professionally framed and matted Some rippling in the matting, see pics for condition 25"T x 31"W Fantastic piece of local maritime artwork!
