Description :

Persian Lilian Sarouk Rug
An antique Persian Lilian Sarouk rug, a beautiful hand-knotted textile woven in the Arak weaving region of Western Persia.

It belongs to the Lilian (or Lilihan) village sub-tradition within the broader Sarouk family. These are highly regarded for their rich artistry, featuring a slightly less crowded floral arrangement compared to standard city Sarouks.

The piece showcase a vivid berry-red or fuchsia-toned field decorated with elegant, curvilinear floral bouquets, vines, and a classic central medallion layout framed by contrasting navy blue or sky blue main borders. Judging by the curvilinear floral drawing and the classic rich color palette, these pieces were highly popular export items primarily hand-woven between the 1920s and 1930s.
Rich and vivid colors. Some surface spots, see pics for condition.
