Lot # 9 - Antique Victorian Piano Stool - Ornate Cast Iron Mermaid Ship Head Leg

dating from the mid-to-late 19th century. This statement piece seamlessly blends period industrial function with Gothic Revival / Victorian fantasy aesthetics, making it a spectacular addition to any parlor, music room, or eclectic home decor.
Design Details
  • Ornate Cast Iron Legs: The defining feature of this stool is its stunning trio of cast iron legs. Each leg is intricately cast in the form of a mermaid or ship's figurehead, complete with sweeping decorative details that flow down to stylized feet.
  • Wooden Column: The central support features a robust, beautifully turned solid wood pedestal that houses the heavy iron screw mechanism.
  • Adjustable Height: The original integrated heavy-duty steel threaded rod is intact, allowing the seat to smoothly swivel and adjust in height for active piano or organ playing.
  • Upholstery: Features a round, padded fabric seat cushion wrapped over an elegant beaded edge frame.
Condition Report
  • Mechanical: The height-adjustment swivel mechanism rotates freely and functions properly.
  • Structure: The heavy cast-iron tripod base is structurally sound, stable, and free of fractures or weld repairs.
  • Cosmetic: The wood column and seat frame showcase a warm antique patina with light, honest wear consistent with age and history. The fabric upholstery is older/vintage and ready to use as-is, though the simple round top makes it an easy candidate for reupholstering to match your personal style. See pics
