1940s/1950s South Bend 359 Bamboo Fly Rod 9' 3-Pc Taper – 1977 Custom Build w/ Extra Tip, Case

Beautifully preserved vintage South Bend Model No. 359 split-bamboo fly rod taper, professionally customized/restored by builder M.G. Heins in 1977. This complete "3/2" configuration outfit features a 3-piece assembly paired with its crucial secondary extra tip section, the original South Bend stamped canvas bag, and a vintage protective Shakespeare cardboard storage tube.

Blank & Finish: Features a gorgeous, rich flamed-bamboo finish. The cane is straight, and the varnish coating applied during the 1977 rebuild remains incredibly smooth and glossy.

Inscriptions: Explicitly hand-signed and dated near the grip by the builder: "M.G. Heins 1977".

Hardware & Wraps: Retains the classic original South Bend down-locking aluminum screw reel seat in excellent working condition. Custom-wrapped with unique black/orange jasper variegated thread and accented with sharp green tipping bands. All guides are tightly bound.

Grip: Features a custom cigar/torpedo-shaped cork grip. The cork is visually very nice with minor pitting. It remains tightly seated against the blank.

Accessories: Includes the original yellow canvas rod bag featuring the iconic "South Bend Quality Tackle" cloth label and stamped factory text (ROD NO. 359 / 9'). Also comes with a vintage Shakespeare cardboard protective shipping/storage tube.
